The Art Major Way
At Art Major, our mission is to create a space where creativity, exploration, and confidence thrive. “The Art Major Way” is the heart of how we interact with our artists (both kids and adults) and how we guide them through their creative journeys. It reflects the language we use, the respect we show, and the philosophy behind every project that happens in our studio.
Our Language: Positive, Supportive, Empowering
We believe that the words we choose shape the atmosphere of our studio. Instead of focusing on restrictions, we emphasize clear, positive guidance. Our goal is to make every artist feel safe, welcomed, and excited to create.
Our Projects: Process Over Perfection
Art Major is a process art studio, which means we value the creative journey over the final product. We encourage experimentation, risk-taking, and personal expression. We’re here to nurture imagination, not to enforce a “right way” to make art.
Our Role: Guides, Not Judges
As instructors, we are here to support, encourage, and guide, not to correct or control. We value bravery in creativity. Every artist who walks through our doors should feel the freedom to try new things, make mistakes, and explore their imagination.
“The Art Major Way” is about more than art, it’s about nurturing independence, curiosity, and joy. Every interaction, every project, and every encouraging phrase helps build a space where artists of all ages feel safe to be themselves.
We create with kindness.
We teach with positivity.
We celebrate individuality.
That is the Art Major Way.
Meet The Owner
McKenna Aslin, Craft Executive Officer
I grew up in sunny California but have proudly called Colorado home for almost a decade now. I hold a Master’s degree in Special Education and have spent over eight years working with individuals who have physical, mental, and developmental disabilities. I’ve also spent four wonderful years in education, and my passion for helping people grow and thrive has only deepened.
I’m a firm believer in the power of art as a form of self-expression—where words might fail, art always finds a way to speak. Creating a safe, inclusive space for people of all abilities is my heart’s mission. Building community is also something I cherish deeply, and I’m always looking for ways to bring people together through creativity and understanding.
A little more about me: I met my awesome husband while working at a summer camp for kids with developmental disabilities, and now we’ve got two absolutely perfect pups! One of them only has two legs, but she’s still a total ball of energy and fun—which, to me, just proves you can do anything if you put your mind to it!
